How it works

Choosing the right device

The best device is the one that fits your hearing and your life. That starts with a proper assessment, not a sales pitch.

  1. Hearing assessment

A comprehensive hearing test shows the type and degree of your hearing loss.

  2. Try in clinic

Hear the devices that suit your results and compare them in real listening situations.

  3. Professional fitting

Your device is programmed to your hearing and checked for comfort and fit.

  4. Ongoing care

Follow-up appointments and fine-tuning, in clinic or by telehealth where available.

Eligible pensioners and veterans may qualify for subsidised hearing aids under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program.

Questions

Hearing device FAQs

Which device is right for me?

It depends on your hearing test results, the situations you find hardest and how you want to wear it. Hearing glasses suit perceived mild to moderate loss, while hearing aids such as Beltone Illuminate and Phonak Audéo Eon Sphere cover a wider range. We will recommend options after your assessment.

Can I try a device before deciding?

Yes. Book a demo and we will let you hear the devices that suit your results in the clinic, so you can compare them before making a decision.

Do I need a hearing test first?

We recommend it. A comprehensive hearing test tells us the type and degree of hearing loss so we can program the device correctly and make sure it is the right choice.

Are rechargeable hearing aids worth it?

Most people find rechargeables easier: no small batteries to change, and a full day of use from an overnight charge. Some styles still use replaceable batteries if you prefer them.

Will my phone work with these devices?

Each device connects differently. Nuance Audio supports hands-free iPhone calls, while Beltone Illuminate and Phonak Audéo Eon Sphere stream from Bluetooth devices and support Auracast. Bring your phone to your demo and we will check it.
